What a designer piece really returns and really costs: plan on the payout after the platform's cut, price at the commission thresholds, judge offers by what they leave you, count each wear at the payout, and settle every doubt with authentication before you pay

Our resale value estimator gives the price a buyer pays. Our consignment payout calculator, one click away, takes the platform's cut off that price, and our cost-per-wear calculator asked for the resale value as if all of it came back. On our tiered example schedule a $1,431 sale pays $1,002, so the tools together counted $429 you would never see. The payout calculator also applies its rate to the whole price, so a dollar either side of a threshold moves the payout by $15 to $251. This kit joins the tools in the right order. A $3,000 top-tier piece at 4 years in excellent condition is worth $2,244, sells for about $1,431 and pays $1,002 (all examples). Listed at the $1,500 threshold it pays $1,200: $198 more for $69 more price. A $1,450 offer on that listing is 3.3% off the price and 15.4% off the payout. Counted at the payout, 150 wears cost $13.32 each, not the $10.46 the sale price suggests, and the year its price slips under $1,500 costs $228, more than twice any other year. No platform or brand is named: the tiered schedule is our example and you copy your own platform's terms, with the date. It is not an authentication guide: a checklist can raise doubts but cannot authenticate, so the kit budgets professional or platform authentication before you pay. While writing it we fixed our checklist scorer, which had called a handbag with a failed serial "strong signs of authenticity"; it now calls any failed critical check a red flag.
