Which sizing systems does it convert between?

Why do designer sizes run so differently?
Two reasons. First, the systems themselves differ — an Italian 42 and a French 38 and a US 6 can be the same garment. Second, luxury brands often cut smaller and less consistently than high-street labels, so even the 'correct' converted size may fit snugly. Use the conversion to get in the right range, then confirm with the garment's actual measurements.
Should I trust the conversion for a non-returnable resale buy?
Treat it as a guide, not a guarantee. Resale pieces are often final sale, so the safest approach is to ask the seller for flat measurements — chest or bust, waist, hip, sleeve, and for shoes the insole length in centimetres — and compare those to a garment you already own that fits. The converter narrows the field; measurements confirm the fit.
What about half sizes and in-between sizes?
The chart uses whole sizes, which cover most listings. If your size isn't on the chart, try the nearest whole size — many luxury labels skip half-sizes entirely, and vintage pieces predate modern half-sizing. For shoes especially, when you're between sizes, the brand's own fit notes and the insole measurement matter more than the number on the label.
